On Sunday, November 1, more than 500 people from the community joined together in a new county-wide charitable fundraiser, Stir It Up. The event was sponsored through a partnership with VIP Services and the Rotary Club of Elkhorn. Stir It Up provided a creative way for residents of Walworth County to support a group of important causes working to improve the quality of life for people. The event was an opportunity to make a direct and immediate impact on the community by supporting organizations that deliver programs and services to those in need.
Event Co-chairs were Donna Neshek and Ed Scaro of the VIP Services Board who led the Joint Planning Committee comprised of members of the Elkhorn Rotary Club, Elkhorn Area High School personnel and other community leaders.
Top area restaurants generously donated samples of their signature fare for the event. Attendees enjoyed hearty samples while listening to music from local high school choirs and jazz bands. Participating restaurants included, BEST Events Catering, Culver’s of Elkhorn, Lake Geneva and Delavan, Evergreen Golf Club, The Geneva Inn, Geneva National Resort, Greenie’s Clubhouse at Delbrook, Hawk’s View Golf Club, Lake Geneva Pie Co., Lake Lawn Resort, Moy’s Restaurant, Next Door Pub, Panera Bread of Delavan, Sperino’s, Su-Wings Chinese Restaurant, The Trout House at Rushing Waters, and Tuscan Tavern and Grill. Bottled water and coffee were in plentiful supply through donations by Culligan Water of Delavan, Elkhorn Wine and Spirits and Greenie’s Clubhouse at Delbrook.
Entertainment was provided by the wonderfully talented students from Badger High School Jazz Band, Elkhorn High School Jazz Band and Choir and Westosha High School Show Choir.
Funds raised by Stir It Up will benefit VIP Services, Open Arms Free Clinic, Walworth County Food Pantry and the Elkhorn Area High School Music and Mentoring Programs. Cynthia Simonsen, Executive Director of VIP Services said, “On behalf of VIP Services, we are very appreciative of the opportunity to collaborate on this great event which we intend to be an annual fall tradition. Stir It Up is a creative new way to support the organizations that serve the greater good throughout Walworth County and also provides venue to showcase our musically talented youth.”
The event was supported by Gold Sponsor, Peoples Bank and Silver Sponsor, Putnam Company, Inc. In addition, many other area businesses, organizations and friends made the event possible through sponsorships and ticket sales.
