VIP Volunteer: Michael Johnson, Cliff Johnson and BriAnna Hennes
Cliff was introduced to VIP Services when he was taking a neighbor who was receiving services, to VIP dances. He had figured that since he was waiting, he might as well help out. Cliff started “helping out” in the kitchen at dances in 2007. In 2008, Cliff began volunteering in the Computer Lab where he continues to this day helping clients learn basic computer skills, research potential jobs and strengthen basic money skills. Cliff also volunteers for the dances and many other special events that occur through out the year such as fundraisers, the annual cookout, and even assisting with outings in Day Services. Because of his dedication, he has accrued over 3000 hours and has become one of our volunteer mentors working with new volunteers.
Cliff stated that “working with the clients is like working with angels. They say please and thank you and they appreciate everything you do for them.” We feel that same way about Cliff. Even when health issues have made volunteering difficult, he does what he can for the people at VIP. If anyone ever wanted to know what it was like to volunteer at VIP, they only need to talk with volunteer extraordinaire, Cliff Johnson. Because of volunteers like Cliff, we are able to offer so much more to the individuals that we serve at VIP. We can’t thank everyone enough for sharing their skills, talents, and passions with us!
